SmartDisplay™  

SmartDisplay™ is an RFID-based innovation from Smurfit-Stone. It is used for item-level tracking and inventory management. Consumer goods companies are interested in electronic shelf labeling as a tool to increase sales by ensuring that the store shelves are always stocked.

Computers sense that the stock is running low and automatically place an order for more products either by informing an employee to retrieve items from storage or by notifying the distribution center that another shipment is needed. 

Smurfit-Stone's SmartDisplay™ incorporates RFID label on the products and antennas, which are integrated below the shelf upon which the product sits. The antenna detects when a product is removed, monitors overall shelf inventory and recognizes possible theft.
